ABOUT ME
đ§âđŒ Who is Miguel Atares?â
Iâm a 25-year-old Research, Development & Innovation Technician in the food industry, with a degree in Biotechnology and a Masterâs in Food Safety and Innovation from the University of Zaragoza.
I’m an energetic, analytical, and extroverted person. I enjoy training at the gym and doing high-intensity workouts like HIIT. On weekends, I love spending time with my girlfriend, family or friends â but during the week, Iâve spent the last year studying every evening to become a full-time Data Analyst.
This mix of science, curiosity, and a passion for improvement defines who I am â both professionally and personally.
đ Why am I switching to Data Analytics?
I chose Biotechnology because I wanted to do something meaningful with my life. I was fascinated by genetics and microbiology. But as I went deeper into the academic world, I realized research wasnât the path for me â years of lab work and thesis writing with limited practical impact didnât match what I envisioned.
So I decided to pursue a more applied role in the private sector, earning my Master’s and landing a job in R&D&I before even finishing it. At first, it was exciting. But over time, I felt limited. I wasnât being challenged, and I couldnât grow or prove what I am really capable of.
Thatâs when I started exploring other paths. After some trial and error, I took a Python course… and something clicked. I fell in love with the tech world and all its possibilities. Then I discovered the role of Data Analyst, and it felt like everything I was looking for:
It is the perfect blend of creativity, technical skills, and strategy, finally finding my path. Although Iâm able to apply my data skills in my current role, thereâs no opportunity to move into a full-time Data Analyst position within the company â which is why Iâm now open to a full-time Data Analyst role.
đ What makes me your best option?
My skill set, mindset, and lifestyle are all aligned with what a Data Analyst needs.
1ïžâŁ First â I build my own projects
I never take a course and just move on to the next one. â Iâve spent most of my time building independent projects with each technology I learn and truly understand how things work. I believe growth happens when you’re forced to figure things out on your own.
2ïžâŁ Second â My job already give me key analyst skills
working with departments like:
- Marketing (claims and branding)
- Export (international requirements)
- Engineering (technical limitations)
- Quality (certifications and allergen control)
- Planning (production timelines and feasibility)
3ïžâŁ Third â My lifestyle reflects commitment resilience
I work 8â9 hours a day in R&D&I, and then spend 2â3 hours more studying Data Analytics and improving my skills. At 25, I feel like Iâve got the drive of a junior just out of university, but the maturity and discipline of someone whoâs already used to pressure, deadlines, and working with others.
